SOS INTERNATIONAL AWARDED CONTRACT TO SUPPORT U.S. FORCES AFGANISTAN WITH INTELLIGENCE ANALYSIS
April 27, 2010
RESTON, VA - SOS International Ltd. (SOSi) and its partner Kingfisher Systems, Inc., a small business based in Alexandria, VA, have been awarded a multi-year, $15.8 million contract over six other competitors to provide intelligence support services to U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan. SOSi will provide research and analysis to the intelligence directorate of U.S. Forces-Afghanistan (USFOR-A) in its ongoing effort to bolster military engagement and planning.
SOSi has been supporting the U.S. defense and intelligence community for more than 20 years. The USFOR-A contract is the latest to be awarded to SOSi in its long-running support of U.S. military operations in the Middle East and southwest Asia. “U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan have been important clients of ours since the beginning of our military’s engagement there in 2002,” said Julian M. Setian, SOSi’s Chief Operating Officer. “We’re one of the very few companies in the defense services sector that truly understands the social, political and cultural dynamics in Afghanistan.”
The USFOR-A contract also demonstrates SOSi’s commitment to the small business community. “SOSi had numerous options for winning this important contract,” said SOSi Senior Vice President Marvin Furusho “But we chose to work with Kingfisher in the interest of building a long-term relationship that will enable us to provide a deeper pool of talent—not just to U.S. forces in Afghanistan, but to all of our clients worldwide.”
SOSi will augment USFOR-A with highly qualified intelligence analysts who are both intelligence professionals and cultural experts. “We employ many of the leading academic and military experts in that region of the world, and have among the longest-standing and most credible track records of performance in Afghanistan in the DoD contracting community,” said Setian.
SOSi is a privately owned defense services firm with more than 1,200 employees worldwide. Now in its third decade of
operation, SOSi provides a wide range of analytical, training, and consulting services to the U.S. government and private sector
firms in the defense and aerospace industry. It specializes in counter-terrorism and counterdrug operations, international
stabilization and capacity building, public affairs and strategic communications.
