SOS INTERNATIONALSHARES EXPERTISE AT 2009 ASIS SECURITY CONFERENCE

RESTON, VA - SOS International Ltd. (SOSi) participated for the first time this year in the annual American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) Conference. The event, held September 21-24 in Anaheim, CA, is the security industry’s most comprehensive educational and networking meeting, and consistently attracts more than 20,000 security professionals from around the world. With a 2009 theme of “Security Never Sleeps,” the conference provided a dynamic forum for sharing innovations and discourse relevant to many different security concerns around the world.

SOSi took part in both of the conference’s components: educational sessions and exhibits. SOSi Corporate Security Director J. Michael Harris moderated a panel discussion, Enterprise Security Risk Management—Creating An Empowered, Effective, Converged Security Team. Other sessions covered topics ranging from corporate IT vulnerability and emergency preparedness for overseas operations to defense of the private sector as terrorism “soft targets.” SOSi also hosted a booth, one of more than 800 in an exhibit hall that represented every imaginable facet of the security field.

SOSi initially pursued an ASIS presence to showcase the company’s overseas stability operations work. However, the comprehensive exchange of ideas throughout the conference provided an opportunity for attendees to also learn about SOSi’s work in atmospherics, cultural advisory services and institutional security.

In addition to contributing to the conference’s traditional venues, SOSi produced a five-minute film that was played throughout the conference hall on a continuous video loop. The film was shot on location in Kabul, Afghanistan, with supporting corporate footage shot at SOSi's operational headquarters in Reston, VA.

The film focuses on SOSi's stability operations work training counter-narcotics police officers in Afghanistan. "Our Stability Operations Group is growing and providing a variety of services around the world," said SOSi VP of Media, Marketing and Communications, Bill Canter. "This film was a great way to showcase that work in the context of a gathering of professionals interested in global security."
