RESTON, VA - SOS International Ltd. (SOSi) is pleased to announce that Mr. Wesley B. (Wes) Taylor, Jr., retired brigadier general, U.S. Army, has joined the company to lead SOSi’s operations in Iraq. Mr. Taylor brings a distinguished background to the SOSi team that includes over 30 years in uniform as a career soldier and an additional 13 years in executive leadership in the non-profit sector.
Mr. Taylor served two combat tours in Vietnam and Grenada and was highly decorated for service and gallantry. His U.S. and foreign awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Joint Superior Service Medal, 2 Legions of Merit, Silver and Bronze Stars, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and Honor Medal. In recognition of his outstanding service contributions, Mr. Taylor was inducted into the U.S. Army’s Ranger Hall of Fame in 2001.
Before retiring from the Army in 1994, Mr. Taylor spent two years serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict with duties in the Pentagon. With extensive operational background in Army special mission units, he led a staff section that worked closely with USSOCOM and prepared policy recommendations for the employment of all-service special mission forces supporting counter-terrorism missions worldwide, while coordinating these activities in the U.S. Government’s executive department. This appointment was preceded by a related assignment in 1991 as the Commander of U.S. Army Special Operations Agency at Department of Army in which he provided Army oversight for all U.S. Army special operations forces and their readiness.
Mr. Taylor has spent the most recent 13 years as an executive in the nonprofit sector. He has served as President and CEO of three separate nonprofit agencies, two of which provided multi-service residential and counseling support services for at-risk youth and families, and the third with an educational and historical foundation. Mr. Taylor’s extensive leadership, operational and issue resolution skills were the foundation of his success in these positions.
With SOSi, Mr. Taylor will be responsible for the company's personnel and operations in Iraq. “Wes is a highly unique and talented individual,” said Julian Setian, SOSi’s Executive Vice President and COO. “His executive management experience in both the military and private sector make him a strong long-term addition to our team.”
