SOS INTERNATIONAL TO PROVIDE COUNTER-NARCOTERRORISM SUPPORT ON RAYTHEON TEAM
August 27, 2007
RESTON, VA - SOS International (SOSi) is part of a team led by Raytheon Technical Services Company (RTSC) LLC that has been awarded a contract to provide equipment, material and services in support of the Department of Defense (DoD) Counter-Narcoterrorism Technology Program Office (CNTPO). The five-year, indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract has a potential value of $15 billion and lasts through the middle of 2012.
Under the terms of the contract, SOSi will provide support to CNTPO in three areas: technology development and application; training, operations and logistics support; and professional and executive support. CNTPO is located at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Va and was established to consolidate funding and provide support to a broad range of U.S. Government agencies involved in the global counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics wars.
RTSC assembled a team that also includes EG&G (a division of URS), SAIC and Battelle. The team will offer CNTPO a comprehensive capability to produce innovative solutions, provide responsive support and experienced management committed to the CNTPO mission worldwide.
SOSi's role in this program will be managed by Mr. Michael S. Vigil, SOSi's Senior Vice President for Law Enforcement and Security Services. Mr. Vigil is a retired DEA executive who previously served as the agency's Chief of International Operations.
"CNTPO is going to greatly enhance the ability of the U.S. Law Enforcement, Defense and Intelligence communities to effectively fight drug trafficking and terrorism on a global scale," says Mr. Vigil. "SOSi has been supporting counter-drug and counterterrorism operations since 1989, but this is the first venue that will allow us to assist the entire spectrum of U.S. Government agencies involved in this fight."
SOS International, Ltd. (SOSi) is a privately owned defense services firm with more than 1,200 employees worldwide. Now in its third decade of operation, SOSi provides a wide range of analytical, training, and consulting services to the U.S. government and private sector firms in the defense and aerospace industry. It specializes in counter-terrorism and counterdrug operations, international stabilization and capacity building, public affairs and strategic communications.
