GSA AWARDS SOS INTERNATIONAL $2 MILLION LANGUAGE SERVICES SCHEDULE CONTRACT
April 29, 2005

RESTON, VA - The General Services Administration awarded a Language Services contract to SOS International (SOSi) today worth an estimated $2 million, allowing the company to participate in GSA schedule procurements throughout the Federal Government.

GSA is one of several resources made available to Federal and State agencies to procure supplies and services. It is viewed as an alternative to soliciting their own competitive contracts in the open marketplace, and is preferred by Government contracting officials for smaller acquisitions and quick requirement purchases.

From a contractor's perspective, it is yet another avenue for securing new business. Government agencies that use GSA schedule contracts to acquire goods and services are required to obtain at least three bids and/or proposals from GSA schedule contract holders, can use the Government's simplified acquisition procedures - an abridged version of the Government's acquisition regulations - and can turn awards around much quicker as a result.

SOSi plans to actively market its GSA schedule contract to Government agencies that traditionally require language services but are not accustomed to soliciting their own separate contracts. In f/y 2004, the Federal Government made approximately $20 million in purchases using the GSA schedule for Language Services.
